Sarah Ahart
As President, Sarah leads the Foundation into one that creates meaningful, impactful partnerships throughout New Jersey. For over two decades, Sarah has advocated for children and adults with varying intellectual and physical abilities, environmental conservation, and historical preservation, while fostering collaborative leadership and community partnerships.
Sarah earned her undergraduate degree from Union College and a master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from the State University of New York at Albany. She spent her early years volunteering, advocating and leading in recreational, residential, and workplace settings for children and adults with varying intellectual and physical abilities at The Arc and Special Olympics Pennsylvania. As a Competition Director, Sarah worked with hundreds of athletes and their families to achieve their goals as healthy individuals and athletes. She helped train thousands of volunteers to support participants through trainings and competitions, engaging local businesses and organizations in partnership along the way.
Later, as a family coordinator of special needs programs at the YMCA, Sarah further realized the direct impact community organizations have on the lives of people and their families. Most recently, Sarah served as a development officer for Heritage Conservancy, a land trust and environmental group in Pennsylvania. Sarah believes in the power of community and the value of transformational support, and brings with her the experience of working in community-based nonprofits who seek to make the world a better place.
